After appointing the Professor of Play, a post funded by the LEGO Foundation, Cambridge University are now offering PhD studentships in the new department.
Earlier this year, the LEGO Foundation and the University of Cambridge made headlines by appointing the first Professor of Play.
Now, applications are open for qualified candidates to apply for a PhD studentship in the research centre for Play in Education, Development and Learning (Pedal). The course, researching ‘play and playfulness in early life’, lasts for three years. The University is looking for candidates with a psychology degree or the equivalent.
Cambridge News reports on the new opportunity:
To be in with a chance of getting the studentship, you’ll need to put together a written statement telling the university what the key issues of the subject you have chosen to study, and also what research methods might be appropriate in answering questions on the topic.
Statements must be no longer than 1,500 words, and have to be completed by Wednesday, December 6.
Although the link is currently down, applicants are being directed here to apply.
