Victoria Police in Austrailia are trying to piece together a crime in which a thief took LEGO toys worth thousands of dollars from a store in Brunswick East. Jim Draks, the owner of Lygon Street toy store Shopforme, said he woke up to the sounds of his shop’s security alarm going off in the early hours of Friday morning.
“About 3am this morning the alarm woke me up and I looked at the (CCTV) footage and I could see someone was in the shop,” Mr Draks said.
“I could just see the door open, I could just see someone moving around in (the) store.”
“...He had brought in a wheelie bin, and he was filling it up with stock.”
Mr Draks said the man, who was covered from head to foot, took away some “high-value statues” and ” a lot of LEGO”.
“It’s basically one-quarter scale X-Men statue, about 60cm big, and LEGO,” he said.
“The statue is probably $1000.”
“We worked it out, it’s about $6000 all up, including cash.”
