In a recent interview, The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay has revealed an intriguing nugget of information about the much anticipated sequel to the LEGO Movie.
Screencrush quote the animation expert as saying:
LEGO 2 is going to be this big musical and space action movie. They need a lot of the writing, a lot of development, not only with script development, but development with songwriters. So it was very ambitious to get that movie out.
McKay has been deeply involved in the development of The LEGO Movie Sequel, and before switching to The LEGO Batman Movie was set to be its director. The movie is due for release in 2019 and will be directed by Mike Mitchell. Before that, moviegoers will see The LEGO NINJAGO Movie released in September this year.
