The LEGO Movie 2: When movie makers and toy designers collaborate…

To bring The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part to the big screen, the LEGO design team were a key part in coming up with incredible locations and characters.

A key idea in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is that when Finn and Bianca combine their imaginations and collaborate, something better happens than what they were doing individually. When it came to conceptualising the film, the same was true of the filmmakers and LEGO creatives.

“I was co-ordinating all of the movie asset creation,” explained LEGO Design Manger Mauricio Bedolla. From the very beginning, he and his colleagues in Billund were working with the design teams at Warner Bros. and Animal Logic to ensure that the LEGO DNA was infused in the look of the animated feature.

The LEGO design team was involved in imagining both Apocalypseburg and the Systar System, as is revealed in the pages of Brick Fanatics Magazine Issue 2. Exclusive concept imagery shows how the worlds that found themselves on the big screen were developed by talented artists.

For the perfect accompaniment to the recently released The LEGO Movie 2 Blu-ray, order a copy of Brick Fanatics Magazine Issue 2, which also includes an incredible Apocalypseburg build and a unique look at how Unikitty was developed.
