Expanding the company’s digital offering, LEGO DUPLO Stories has been released on the Amazon Alexa.
As part of the LEGO Group’s drive to combine digital and physical play, LEGO DUPLO Stories will be an Alexa skill that combines real life play with the voice service. It is designed for families with children aged between two and five years old.
Using the Amazon Echo, or any other Alexa device, parents and children can choose a story and then participate with the story guided by Alexa. Five of the stories are vehicle based and five are animal based, designed to help children’s constructive, exploratory and roleplay skills.
“Voice services and the Smart Speakers they live on are changing the way we listen to our favourite audio content, shop for products and now how we play together,” said .” James Poulter, Head of Emerging Platforms & Partnerships, the LEGO Group. “The new LEGO DUPLO Stories skill is one of the first Alexa skills to bring together physical play with interactive audio content, allowing preschool kids and the adults in their lives to build stories and creations together. Voice is such a powerful tool for play as it is one of the most human ways of interacting. Long before we can type, read or control a device, we listen and speak.”
The LEGO Group believes that children do not differentiate between physical and digital play, and promise to continue to innovate when it comes to experience that cover both areas.
