A 90th anniversary LEGO set has inspired some stylish outfits in a new Instagram reel.
The LEGO Group is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, with several new LEGO releases reflecting on the company’s long history. The first of these to be released was 11021 90 Years of Play. This is a LEGO Classic set that recreated models from the last nine decades.
Our review of the set was broadly positive, but questioned how popular it would be with its (young) target audience. However, the set has proven to have a few tricks up its sleeve. Its pieces can be used to build several other classic models from across LEGO history, with instructions for a ’90s build recently posted online.

Now it seems the set is birthing a whole new realm of creative expression. A new Instagram reel on the official LEGO Instagram page uses the set as a basis for a series of outfits.
Mini-builds in the set like the classic wooden duck, BIONICLE’s Tahu and the DOTS Pineapple Pencil Holder are reinterpreted in this way. Presumably, the LEGO CITY Police Station proved a little too obtuse.
The creative force behind the video appears to be Daina B., who has collaborated with the LEGO Group on previous occasions. She recently photographed herself building 21333 Vincent Van Gogh – The Starry Night, showing she knows fine art when she sees it.
The original reel can be found here. If you’re feeling inspired, 11021 90 Years of Play is available now at LEGO.com.
