Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 may be in development

Rumours suggest that the success of the first three episodes of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi could result in a second series of the hit show.

Reputable fan site Making Star Wars has posted a report stating that Lucasfilm may be actively developing a second series of its most recent Disney+ series. With only three episodes of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi released so far, it seems that the show has already been a huge hit for the streaming service, although not one without some controversy.

Actor Moses Ingram has been the target of racist abuse from online trolls, resulting in both support for her and condemnation of her treatment from fellow cast member Ewan McGregor, The Mandalorian himself, Pedro Pascal, and the man behind Jar Jar Binks, Ahmed Best.

Despite the negative press, the show seems to have struck a chord with many fans who have been anxiously awaiting more adventures featuring the former Jedi Master. According to the spoiler-laden Making Star Wars report, the preliminary numbers for the show have been so good in fact that Lucasfilm is said to be considering developing a second series.

McGregor himself recently stated that he’d also be interested in playing the title character again, saying, ‘If we were to get an opportunity to do it again, I’d be totally up for that.’

Two LEGO Star Wars sets based on the first season of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi were recently revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2022, with both 75336 Inquisitor Transport Scythe and 40547 Obi-Wan Kenobi & Darth Vader available for pre-order now and launching on August 1.
