Retiring LEGO Batman 76139 1989 Batmobile sells out online

LEGO Batman 76139 1989 Batmobile has dropped out of stock at LEGO.com, as we inch ever-closer to the impressive set’s imminent retirement.

Reportedly due to leave shelves for good by the end of 2021, the biggest Batmobile to date will soon be replaced in the portfolio by 76240 Batmobile Tumbler. If you’re yet to pick up the 3,306-piece tribute to Tim Burton’s Batman movies (and Julian Caldow’s Batmobile design), it’s probably worth bumping it to the top of your priority list.

That doesn’t do you much good right now – at least in the UK and Europe – where 76139 1989 Batmobile is labelled as ‘temporarily out of stock’, but no bother: just sign up toBrick Fanaticsstock alerts and we’ll let you know when it’s back and available to order.

The Batmobile – which includes a rotating display stand and two unique minifigures in Vicki Vale and Joker (Batman also comes with 76161 1989 Batwing) – is still available to order in the US for $249.99. But ifBrick Fanatics’ sources are correct, it’s due to disappear for good across all markets within the next three months.

That means it also doesn’t have long left inBrick Fanatics’ Top 20 LEGO Sets List, where for the time being it’s moved down to the ‘notice something missing?’ section, to be replaced by the also-impressive LEGO Ideas 92176 NASA Apollo Saturn V.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then. You can follow me on Twitter at @brfa_chris.

What!! This wasn’t on the last 2 retirement lists I saw towards the end of the year so I didn’t worry about it. Seriously not impressed!
