Keep an eye on Brick Fanatics this afternoon, as we’ll be bringing you the first reviews of 2021’s NINJAGO Legacy sets.
We’ve been digging into the archives at Brick Fanatics HQ to compare each of the new, redesigned models to its NINJAGO predecessor – at least where they have them. 71742 Overlord Dragon is a brand new design, based on a character from the second season of the NINJAGO TV show.
The rest of the sets take direct inspiration from some classic NINJAGO models, giving us plenty of room for comparative discussion in and amongst our in-depth reviews. 71738 Zane’s Titan Mech Battle, for example, takes one half of 2015’s 70737 Titan Mech Battle and looks to turn it into a fully-fleshed, standalone model.
The embargo on the first wave of NINJAGO Legacy sets for 2021 lifts at 2pm today. Here’s the five sets we’ll be covering from that point onwards:
71735 Tournament of Elements
71736 Boulder Blaster
71737 X-1 Ninja Charger
71738 Zane’s Titan Mech Battle
71742 Overlord Dragon
All these sets are due to launch on January 1. LEGO designer Niek van Slagmaat has already shared a sneak peek at 71738 Zane’s Titan Mech Battle, tweeting out concept artwork and images of prototype models.
