LEGOLAND Windsor Resort thanks UK key workers

An area of LEGOLAND Windsor Resort’s Miniland has been dedicated to UK key workers as the theme park reopens today.

The Model Maker team at LEGOLAND Windsor Resort has built a special Miniland display to thank UK key workers and ‘heroes of lockdown’. It features 50 individual creations that represent key workers and well-known personalities who have been notable during lockdown.

Today, the UK government is allowing selected business to reopen, including theme parks, bars and restaurants. LEGOLAND Windsor Resort is opening its doors again, with the new DUPLO Dino Coaster as this year’s fresh attraction.

Tiny NHS staff members, including doctors, nurses, cleaners and carers are surrounded by members of the public clapping to represent the public who applauded them every Thursday for a few weeks during lockdown.

Captain Tom Moore, the elderly man walked laps of his garden to encourage people to donate money to the NHS, is also represented. He is surrounded by LEGO teachers, postmen and the dancing refuse collectors who become a hit on TikTok. Joe Wicks also gets a Miniland figure thanks to his online exercise classes.

Across the backdrop is a giant rainbow made from LEGO elements, which children were encouraged to draw and stick in their window during the lockdown, with many adults adopting the practice too.

 The new scene uses over 5,000 bricks and took Model Maker Will Saunders over 40 hours to put together.

Merlin Entertainments will give thousands of free tickets to key workers next week.
