The LEGOLAND Windsor Resort has unveiled a giant sand sculpture depicting two minifigures releaxing on the beach.
Professional sand sculptor Raymond Wirick was drafted in by the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort team to create a giant sand sculpture to celebrate the launch of the theme park’s ‘Summer of Fun’. 20 tonnes of sand has been used to sculpt these excessively large minifigures.
“We’re well used to creating spectacular LEGO builds at the Resort, thanks to our talented team of Model Makers, but working with Raymond to create this awesome sand sculpture is completely new for us and our guests, and hugely exciting. We can’t wait to see it inspiring children over the next two months, whether it’s with sand or LEGO, as they get building at our new ‘Summer of Fun’ pop-up beach party,” said Lauren Moss, Senior PR Manager.
“It’s been fantastic seeing the reactions from the guests during the past four days as I’ve been sculpting the LEGO Minifigure family. Little ones have been asking lots of questions, if it’s real sand, and how can they make their own sand sculptures. I can’t wait to see the guest’s reactions now the sculpture is complete, and hope it will inspire lots of sand castle creations at LEGOLAND’s pop-up beach nearby,” added Raymond.
The sand sculpture marks the launch of a new Beach Party that will be in place until September 2, allowing guests to enjoy the fun of the beach while visiting the resort. LEGO building, sand activities and dance parties with minifigure characters will all be part of the fun.
Tickets to the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort can be purchased at the official website.
