LEGO Technic Monster Jam 2021 sets revealed

LEGO.com has revealed the first images of LEGO Technic’s 2021 Monster Jam sets.

The two models have been rumoured to be coming for a while, with confirmation inadvertently provided by the LEGO Group’s new Ideas contest. But we’ve now finally got our first look at 42118 Monster Jam Grave Digger and 42119 Monster Jam Max-D, courtesy of the official online store.

Both 2-in-1 sets carry the Monster Jam badge, marking the introduction of a brand new licence to the Technic stable. If you’re unfamiliar with Monster Jam, it’s a live monster truck racing event that’s been running since 1992, primarily in the US and Canada.

Eagle-eyed readers will notice 42118’s product name is a little different to the one listed on the Ideas contest page. Presumably that list was compiled from an outdated source, or the set’s name changed late into production.

The Monster Jam sets join 42116 Skid Steer Loader, 42117 Race Plane, 42123 McLaren Senna GTR, 42124 Off-Road Buggy and 42125 Ferrari 488 GTE AF CORSE #51 in the January 2021 line-up.

Rumours suggest two more sets, 42120 Hovercraft and 42121 Hydraulic Excavator, are also on the way. Until they’re confirmed by the LEGO Group, though, take any information around them with a pinch of salt.
