LEGO Technic 42131 CAT D11T Bulldozer officially revealed

The LEGO Group has officially unveiled its latest mammoth LEGO Technic CONTROL+ set, 42131 CAT D11T Bulldozer.

Seemingly replacing the retiring 42100 Liebherr R 9800 Excavator at the top end of the Technic scale, the giant yellow dozer has been revealed by LEGO China and LEGO Germany, which have published images and a video to Weibo and Facebook respectively.

Just like the Liebherr before it, 42131 CAT D11T Bulldozer is anchored around CONTROL+, and consequently includes the hub required to integrate with the corresponding app – along with four motors and 3,854 pieces. That part count falls just short of the Liebherr, which retains the title of the largest LEGO Technic set of all time, but the dozer comes pretty close.

The price will therefore probably be pretty similar to 42100 Liebherr R 9800 Excavator’s, which sits at a lofty £399.99 / $449.99 / €449.99. According to LEGO China and Caterpillar China’s posts on Weibo, 42131 CAT D11T Bulldozer’s functionality includes the ability to control front and rear steering, along with the movement of its blades, rippers and ladders.

42131 CAT D11T Bulldozer will launch on October 1 at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores. We’ll bring you our verdict on the finished product next month.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then. You can follow me on Twitter at @brfa_chris.
