LEGO Super Mario app to be available with the new theme

To ‘enhance’ the new LEGO Super Mario theme, the LEGO Group will release an app that ties in with the sets.

The LEGO Group has made a series of announcements regarding the new LEGO Super Mario theme, with sets available to pre-order shortly. 71360 Adventures with Mario Starter Course, 71366 Piranha Plant Power Slide Expansion Set will be priced at $29.99 and 71369 Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Expansion Set have been revealed, along with the news that an app will be made available alongside the sets when they launch on August 1.

GoNintendo reports that the app will be free and is described by the LEGO Group as “a supporting feature to further enhance the physical play experience.” It will track the player’s scores, encourage the rebuilding of sets, provide digital instructions and offer creative ways to play. There will also be a forum to “share ideas with friends”.

Five Nintendo games perfect for the LEGO brick

Super Mario has continued to appear, always in a form adapted to the current hardware of the time,” says Takashi Tezuka, Executive Officer and Game Producer of Nintendo Co., Ltd. “I am thankful that in this project with the LEGO Group, Mario is jumping out of the digital world of game consoles and smart devices, and we are able to bring him into the world with a new, physical type of Mario play.”

Brick Fanatics understands that a series of outfits will also be released for the Super Mario figure.
