The company licensed to run official LEGO Stores in China sees continued growth opportunities, despite the economic impact of coronavirus.
On April 29, a new LEGO Store will open in Hong Kong. As well as being a physical brand store, the Tuen Mun district outlet will be a base for online deliveries. Kidsland International Holdings holds the licence for LEGO Stores in China.
“We see resilient demand for LEGO products for kids and for those who are spending more time at home,” Sherman Hung, Executive Director of Kidsland International Holdings, told South China Morning Post. “We believe a highly integrated offline and online operation will thrive in the redefined retail landscape post Covid-19.”
With unemployment in the retail sector at about 7% and dismal figures for shopping in February, the company’s leaders are still confident in the expansion plan that is in place – although will be ready to adapt if necessary.
“Although the Covid-19 pandemic currently presents substantial challenges to the operating environment, the group’s Hong Kong business performance remains robust, and we remain cautiously optimistic about the group’s prospects and will continue to reform our operations,” Lee Ching Yiu, Kidsland’s Chairman and Chief Executive, said.
“We will continue to explore different e-commerce platforms and maintain good communications with customers, to better understand their shopping patterns and hence meet their needs, as well as boost product sales, diversify channels and further expand our customer base,” Lee said.
