Each morning leading up to Christmas day, Brick Fanatics is cracking open all three official LEGO advent calendars to see what goodies are found within
Christmas is approaching and to celebrate the festive season, Brick Fanatics is opening up the LEGO advent calendars each day before sharing our thoughts on what is found behind the doors. Feel free to join us and share your own comments when opening up those advent calendar doors – whether you opted for Star Wars, City or Friends. You can do so on Facebook, Twitter or underneath this very feature.
75184 Star Wars: First Order Troop Transport
I am a firm believer that anything that adds light grey or dark grey to one’s collection is worth having no matter what it happens to be. That fact is what allows me to get excited about this model which otherwise struggles to be interesting. Objectively, the First Order Troop Transport is a light grey box which is boring at any scale. Thankfully, Lucasfilm elected to do it in a colour that makes these vehicles eminently useful to fans as parts packs.
So few parts, such clear detail – the clear dish representing a spinning propeller is sheer genius. I presume that this is a remote control airplane for our young snowboarder from a couple of days ago, and it serves as a reminder that clever parts usage can be present in anything no matter how small. Using a clear dish to represent motion is something I had never thought of before and will surely use at some point in the future.
41326 Friends: Snowboarding ‘hill’
Remember everything I said a couple of days ago about snowboard components being useful in large quantities? Well everything said is still true, so I cannot complain too much about this door’s contents, but it’s a struggle. To call this a ‘ramp’ really stretches the imagination. Surprisingly it works better than anticipated, so that is a plus.
