LEGO Star Wars 20th anniversary event at Celebration Chicago

Star Wars Celebration Chicago will celebrate 20 years of LEGO Star Wars with a special panel on the Collectors’ Stage.

Chicago is about to host the biggest Star Wars event of the year, with Celebration taking place from April 11 until April 15. As this year marks 20 years of LEGO Star Wars, a special panel will take place on the Collectors’ Stage to look back at how the theme went from another LEGO property to become a brand of its own.

The talk will take place on Friday, April 12 at 6.00pm. Brick Fanatics Editor Graham Hancock will join Jeremy Beckett, James Burns and Duncan Jenkins as the panel shares a walk down memory lane, a peek into how prototype parts are developed and a walkthrough of the LEGO production process.

Here is the official description:

It was 20 years ago today, there was a company whose name stands for “good play.” They’ve never gone out of style and they’re always guaranteed to raise a smile… actually it might not be exactly today, but it was twenty years ago that two cultural giants, Lucasfilm and the LEGO Group, teamed up to create a unique fusion of their respective brands.

That initial collaboration in 1999 has grown into the largest Star Wars license with the creation of countless clever products, theme park attractions, video games and even a spinoff television series. Join us as we look back at 20 years of playing well in the Star Wars universe.

At each panel on the Collectors’ Stage, an exclusive Star Tots collectible will be given away.

The following day, the LEGO Star Wars animation panel will see the creators of the most recent television series and specials, including The Freemaker Adventures and All Stars, discussing their work.
