LEGO Star Wars 2022 accessory packs revealed

The LEGO Group has unveiled the two heavily-anticipated LEGO Star Wars accessory packs 40557 Defence of Hoth and 40558 Clone Trooper Command Station.

These are the theme’s first-ever blister packs – following the format of 40453 Batman vs. The Penguin & Harley Quinn, 40511 Minions Kung Fu Training and so on – and they each include three minifigures pulled from a separate era of the Star Wars canon.

As rumoured, 40557 Defence of Hoth includes three rebel soldiers equipped for snowy weather, alongside a rotating laser cannon blaster and two tripod guns. It’s the perfect counterpoint to 75320 Snowtrooper Battle Pack, which makes it pretty puzzling in this format: as an accessory pack, it will only have limited availability through official channels.

40558 Clone Trooper Command Station, meanwhile, doesn’t include Captain Rex and Commander Cody as rumoured: instead, it’s very clearly based on the Battle of Geonosis from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, and includes two regular Clone Troopers alongside the Clone Commander first seen in 75309 Republic Gunship.

Both of these packs will launch on January 1 at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores, where they’ll retail for £13.49 / $14.99 / €14.99 apiece. Also arriving alongside them will be 75320 Snowtrooper Battle Pack, 75321 The Razor Crest Microfighter and 75322 Hoth AT-ST, rounding out the LEGO Star Wars line-up for January 2022.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then. You can follow me on Twitter at @brfa_chris.
