LEGO Star Wars 2019 sets revealed

The first LEGO Star Wars sets that will be released in 2019 have been revealed in official images.

Eleven new LEGO Star Wars sets that will launch in January 2019 – or maybe at the end of December 2018 – have been revealed by Brickset in official LEGO images. The pictures show three new Microfighters sets and three sets that will be branded as part of the 4+ range.

In this batch of images, the following sets have been revealed:

75223 Naboo Starfighter Microfighter
75224 Sith Infiltrator
75225 Elite Praetorian Guard Battle Pack
75226 Inferno Squad Battle Pack
75228 Escape Pod vs. Dewback Microfighters
75229 Death Star Escape
75233 Droid Gunship
75234 AT-AP Walker
75235 X-wing Starfighter Trench Run
75237 TIE Fighter
75247 A-wing Starfighter

The subject matter in this wave, that will be released in January 2019, is varied. Regular sets cover A New Hope, Revenge of the Sith and The Last Jedi. Unusually, one of the two battle packs does indeed visit Inferno Squad, the elite Imperial commandos featured in Star Wars: Battlefront II (2017) – considering the video game’s lukewarm reception, it is surprising to see it revisited.

Perhaps the most interesting new aspect of the LEGO Star Wars theme is the three 4+ sets, part of the rebranded Juniors concept. Each one uses large pieces to build simple models that are chunky and ready for play.

There have been a few Star Wars surprises during the back end of 2018, including the release of 75230 Porg and reveal of 75251 Darth Vader’s Castle. LEGO Star Wars sets are available to buy from shop.LEGO.com.
