LEGO set donation made to Ohio children’s hospital

Patients at Toledo Children’s Hospital are receiving LEGO sets to help occupy them during their time in hospital.

A donation of 250 LEGO sets has been made to ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children’s Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, USA. It was Cornerstone Community Financial Credit Union that led the drive for donations, asking members to donate LEGO sets and then matching every set provided.

Given that patients are having to stay isolated, the LEGO sets are intended to help occupy the children. “They can’t now, they’re isolated to their rooms because we can’t have them in the same area together. So, this gives them the opportunity to have some bedside play,” Certified Child Life Specialist Kylee Byrd told WTOL11.

Donations are still being accepted, with the hope that more LEGO sets can be provided in time for Christmas.

“This is very important to Cornerstone Community Financial, our main basis is being a part of our community, and we want to help our community. And this is just one of the things that we do for them,” said Cornerstone Community Financial’s Vicky Canales.
