LEGO pop up store opens in Natural History Museum

Lions and Tigers and Dinos, oh my!  In a new summer collaboration, the LEGO Group opens a dedicated pop up shop in the Natural History Museum.

The LEGO store in Leicester Square may be closed for refurbishment and expansion, but from today, there’s another place to go to indulge in your love of LEGO. A new pop up store has appeared in the Natural History Museum, just off the main gift shop, and it’s packed with sets to look at, giant brick built sculptures and, of course, has plenty of bricks to play with.

Carla Treasure from the museum, who is responsible for much of what visitors can purchase from the gift shop, told us that the new shop was an ideal collaboration, given the two organisations shared passion for education (and the fact that children love dinosaurs as much as they love LEGO).

The museum was very busy when we visited this morning, but speaking to Manon, Mayawa and Minju in the store, they’re getting ready for the inevitable rush when the school holidays begin. Children – and adults – visiting the store have a wide variety of LEGO to choose from, focusing on wildlife and education, so expect sets like 31129 Majestic Tiger, 31112 Wild Lion and 31058 Mighty Dinosaurs, as well as a number of Space themed sets like 60349 Lunar Space Station and 60348 Lunar Roving Vehicle.  

A couple of large scale models – great for selfies – are in the store, one giraffe and one Space-suited miner who seems to have unusual crystalline boots. The pop up shop is open from today, and will be open until September 18. Entry to the Museum is free, by way of timed ticket, and it’s open seven days a week (other than Christmas), from 10.00 until 17.50, with last entry at 17.30.
