LEGO Originals 853967 Wooden Minifigure display at LEGO House

A temporary exhibit at LEGO House shows off Originals 853967 Wooden Minifigure, with prototypes and artistic interpretations of the wooden statue.

Released last year, LEGO Originals 853967 Wooden Minifigure is a celebration of the iconic minifigure. To launch the product, LEGO designers and creatives decorated prototype wooden minifigures for a pop-up gallery in London.

Now, those decorated upscaled minigfigures are on display in LEGO House, the attraction in Billund, Denmark, along with prototypes for the product and information about how it was developed.

In this video, some of the creatives who decorated a statue explain their design:

“The inspiration here was based in storytelling from novels of my youth, I read a lot science fiction novels like Jules Verne, Robert Louis Stevenson, Herman Melville. This sort of motif here with the whale, sperm whale and the giant squid in this battle was something that I always play with in my own paintings,” explains Creative Specialist Jake Blais.

The statue is a wooden replica of the iconic LEGO figure upscaled at 5:1 ratio. As well as the wooden minifigure itself, a selection of bricks are included to build an accessory for the model. It is intended for the owner to customise the wooden character with paint or other materials.
