A new LEGO Monkie Kid polybag has turned up online, with 40474 Build your own Monkey King likely to be a LEGO.com gift with purchase item at some point.
LEGO Monkie Kid 40474 Build your own Monkey King has been revealed on Twitter by LEGO Art Design Manager Sam Johnson. The polybag set is similar to other polybags that offer the opportuntiy to rebuild a particular item, but unusually it is tied to a specific LEGO theme.
At some point it is likely to show up as a LEGO.com gift with purchase promotional item.
Four more LEGO Monkie Kid set names were recently revealed: Brickheadz 40381 Monkey King, 80014 Sandy’s Speedboat, 80015 Monkie Kid’s Cloud Roadster and 80016 The Flaming Foundry.
In a recent interview, Design Manager Dennis Fong talked about the positive reaction to the theme: “We felt that we hit something really big when we had this concept of the Monkey King. Seeing all the energy from the kids, the parents, how they could instantly recognise it because we had a lot of key iconic elements in there. And, you know, we didn’t need to tell a new story. We had the old story as a foundation for us to build upon.”
