LEGO Marvel What If…? 76201 Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper revealed

This summer’s What If…? range is set to expand with yet another LEGO Marvel mech, 76201 Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper.

Joining 76194 Tony Stark’s Sakaarian Iron Man in taking inspiration from the upcoming Disney+ TV show, 76201 Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper imagines a world where Peggy Carter takes on the mantle of Captain America instead of Steve Rogers.

That whimsical alternate reality has here translated into… yet another Hulkbuster-style mech, this time piloted by the presumably regular Joe version of Steve Rogers. They’re battling the first MCU minifigure version of Red Skull, who’s trying to run off with the Tesseract.

So far, 76201 Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper is only listed through the Australian version of LEGO.com, where it’s priced at $49.99 AUD. That suggests an international price tag of around £24.99 / $34.99 / €29.99, but we’ll confirm global RRPs as soon as we can.

According to the official product description, the 343-piece set boasts an opening cockpit and two stud shooters as its primary play features. You’ll be able to grab it from August 1 alongside 76194 Tony Stark’s Sakaarian Iron Man and the newly-revealed 76200 Bro Thor’s New Asgard. Stay tuned for our review of 76201 Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper later this month.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then. You can follow me on Twitter at @brfa_chris.
