LEGO Marvel Shang-Chi set confirmed as future gift-with-purchase

LEGO Marvel 30454 Shang-Chi and The Great Protector has popped up on LEGO.com, confirming that the polybag will be available as a future gift-with-purchase.

It’s the third set based on the upcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings, following 76176 Escape from The Ten Rings and 76177 Battle at the Ancient Village. The polybag takes its cues from the latter of those two sets, bundling together a miniature take on its dragon and a Shang-Chi minifigure.

30454 Shang-Chi and The Great Protector is now listed at LEGO.com as a ‘free item’, which is usually the tag given to gifts-with-purchase or VIP rewards. While there are no specifics surrounding that eventual promo just yet, it’s fair to assume it’ll be available either next month – when the other Shang-Chi sets launch in the UK and Europe – or in September, when the movie arrives in cinemas.

Whether it will only be available by purchasing either (or both) 76176 Escape from The Ten Rings and 76177 Battle at the Ancient Village remains to be seen. It could also be handed out with a qualifying spend on any Marvel sets, or even across the entire portfolio – plenty of recent GWPs haven’t been tied to a particular theme, like this month’s 40486 Adidas Originals Superstar.

For now, you’ll at least be able to buy 76176 Escape from The Ten Rings and 76177 Battle at the Ancient Village directly from LEGO.com (and in LEGO Stores) on August 2 in the UK and Europe, while they’re already available in the US.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then. You can follow me on Twitter at @brfa_chris.
