LEGO Ideas asks fans to design one-off Space set

The LEGO Ideas platform is offering a special opportunity for fans to design a space themed gift with purchase set.

Usually, the LEGO Ideas platform asks builders to submit a project for fellow fans to vote on. For this special contest though, the team wants fans to build something specific – a space themed model. The winning entry will be a gift with purchase set in 2019 at LEGO Stores and shop.LEGO.com. Here is the brief that has been provided:

We invite you to show us your LEGO moment in space! Use your imagination to create the ultimate space model – make it as sci-fi or realistic as you wish, just stay within a base of 16 x 16 studs. One lucky winner has the chance to have their entry transformed into a new Gift with Purchase set, and will win a collection of past exclusive Gift with Purchase sets!

The deadline is February 9, 6.00am EST. There are phases to follow, including a fan voting stage, after that deadline:

1. Submission Phase – Build and submit your entry before February 9th, 2018 at 6:00 a.m. EST.
2. Voting Phase – Rally your friends to vote for your entry before February 19th, 2018 at 6:00 a.m. EST. The top 25 entries will be advanced to the Judging phase.
3. Judging Phase – Our judges review the entries and choose the winners.
4. Winners Announcement – We share the grand prize winner and ten runner up winners here on LEGO Ideas!

As well as the pride of having a build turned into a real LEGO set in 2019, the overall winner will get a nice batch of LEGO prizes:
