LEGO Group marks 60th anniversary of the brick today
Today is the specific day that the LEGO Group has chosen to mark the 60th anniversary of the classic LEGO brick.
The LEGO Group is celebrating 60 years of the classic 2×4 LEGO brick this year, with events, activities and products for the entirety of 2018. Today is the day that the patent for that original brick was approved, so has been chosen as the official ‘birthday’ of the LEGO brick.
Activity to celebrate has been going on all over the world, with a giant 2×4 brick erected on New York City, a UK toy shop’s storefront completely LEGO-ised and a special celebration at the LEGO House in Billund.
Plenty of organisations have been Tweeting congratulations to the LEGO Group, including 5 Live and Sky News:
Happy birthday, Lego – 60 years of treading on small bricks in bare feet ?.
