LEGO exhibition showcases famous historical moments

Special LEGO exhibition, Brick History, takes you back through time with brick-built versions of history’s most famous moments.

The Hold, a heritage centre on Ipswich Waterfront, is hosting various models showcasing some iconic scenes from our planet’s history this summer. Starting with the age of the dinosaurs coming all the way through to the moon landing, the models explore various different stories and world-changing moments from the past.

LEGO artist Warren Elsmore, together with his team, created most of the models, all made entirely from LEGO bricks. Some builds are small and easy to pick up and engage with, while others are much larger, including a one-and-a-half metre square medieval castle, populated with minifigures.

Another highlight of the display, especially for locals, is a LEGO version of the Sutton Hoo helmet, an ornate Anglo-Saxon helmet that was found in East Anglia itself, not too far from where Brick History is on show today.

Locals also played their part more directly by adding their own creations of landmarks from around the area to the exhibition. They will be displayed alongside Elsmore’s builds.

The exhibit will run from Saturday 17 July until the end of September. Tickets for Brick History cost £5.00 for adults and £4.00 for children with family tickets also available. You can buy your tickets online in advance here.
