Every LEGO Creator Expert set retiring in 2022 and beyond – January update

Three LEGO for Adults sets have had their retirement dates brought forward by two years, while two originally planned to retire this year will now hang around a little longer.

Those are the main takeaways from this month’s update to the full list of current retirement dates for the existing LEGO for Adults (formerly LEGO Creator Expert) portfolio. Among those sets now leaving shelves in 2022 – where they were previously destined to be on sale until the end of 2024 – are 10279 Volkswagen T2 Camper Van, 10284 Camp Nou – FC Barcelona and 10291 Queer Eye – The Fab 5 Loft.

That’s a spectacularly short lifespan for the LEGO Group’s latest football stadium, coming in at just 15 months in all. Even then, there’s no guarantee that it will hang around until the very end of 2022 – sets generally retire over the course of the fourth quarter of the year – so it could well be even shorter when all’s said and done.

Another stadium is rumoured to be joining the assortment later this year, in the form of 10299 Santiago Bernabeu, but it sounds like Real Madrid’s stadium will only share shelf space with that of its fiercest rival for a very limited period.

On the other hand, 10265 Ford Mustang has been pushed back yet again to 2023, effectively cementing its status as an evergreen product by this point (and therefore speaking to its popularity in the adult market). Joining it is 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar, which will now be available for at least another couple of years.

The newly-launched 10297 Boutique Hotel, meanwhile, will be around until 2025 at the moment, with 10270 Bookshop still the next modular building slated to leave shelves.
