After donating 500,000 LEGO sets to children in need in 2018, this year the LEGO Build to Give campaign will see the company donate one million sets.
The LEGO Build to Give campaign is an annual charity campaign that sees the company donate LEGO sets to children in difficult or vulnerable circumstances. Sets will go to children who might otherwise miss out during the festive period and will be distributed to hospitals, children homes and underserved communities.
The public is asked to build LEGO Christmas decorations and share them with #BuildtoGive. For every ornament built and shared with the hashtag, the LEGO Group will donate a LEGO set. The maximum number that will be donated is one million boxes. While people can build models at home and share them online, there will also be opportunities at LEGO Stores to get involved with the activity.
“Being able to follow up on last year’s amazing donation and even doubling our commitment is an achievement we are all very proud of,” said Kathrine Kirk Muff, LEGO Vice President of Social Responsibility and Engagement. “The enthusiasm from LEGO builders across the world to build beautiful and fun ornaments to help children in difficult circumstances warms our hearts. We cannot wait to see how builders of all ages will unleash their creativity again this year and help us bring LEGO play into the hands of one million children in need.”
The campaign will run from November 4 until December 8.
