LEGO Bricks and Pieces closes due to coronavirus

The LEGO Bricks and Pieces service has been closed due to the coronavirus, but is still accepting replacement orders for missing/broken parts.

Coronavirus is leading to companies around the world enacting precautionary methods to reduce the risk to employees and the public. The LEGO Group has closed the option to buy Bricks and Pieces online, although those who have found a piece missing or broken in a set can request replacements still.

Here is the official statement:

Due to COVID-19 we’ve had to introduce special measures at all our sites to reduce the risk of infection, including reducing the number of people who can work together at any one time to pick bricks for Bricks & Pieces. Buying bricks therefore isn’t available at the moment. This only applies to Bricks & Pieces – everything else is business as usual. We’ll have the service back up and running as soon as possible.

The LEGO Group has advised retailers to remove play tables and loose bricks.

LEGOLAND Windsor Resort has opened for the 2020 season, with theme park assuring guests that ‘enhanced cleaning regimes’ have been put in place.

In Denmark, where the spread of coronavirus is more advanced, schools have been closed and many of the LEGO Group’s employees are working from home. The LEGO House is closed for the whole of March.
