The marketing for LEGO Boost is in full force, as it has picked up a Toy Award at the international toy fair, currently taking place in Nuremberg, Germany. It won in the category of school kids (6-10 years),

With LEGO BOOST, schoolkids can already gain their first programming experience through play. The set comes with instructions on how to build several models – including Vernie the robot, Frankie the cat and a guitar. Once built, a free app brings them to life. Vernie can then shoot and dance, for example, while controlled by his user via a tablet or smartphone. Kids can use the app to very simply program movements and add sound effects. With Boost, Lego is combining the conventional construction experience with modern technology – an approach recognised by the jury with first prize in the SchoolKids category.
LEGO Boost is set to launch in August, as a more accessible coding product than LEGO Mindstorms.
