LEGO Avatar set includes glow-in-the-dark elements

The upcoming 75574 Toruk Makto & Tree of Souls will be one of a handful of LEGO sets to include glow-in-the-dark pieces.

There are very few LEGO sets that have been released to date that feature glow-in-the-dark elements. Some of the more prominent include eight LEGO Monster Fighters models, as well as minifigures of DC Comics’ Scarecrow, plus Nearly Headless Nick and a variant of Professor Severeus Snape from the Harry Potter theme. In fact, the very first glow-in-the-dark element produced for a minifigure was the Ghost Shroud piece, released way back in 1990.

Now another LEGO set is due to join that list in the shape of the upcoming 75574 Toruk Makto & Tree of Souls. According to the official listing for the model, the set includes ‘3 environment builds with glow-in-the-dark elements.’ There’s currently no indication as to exactly which pieces will glow, but the vegetation at the base of the Tree of Souls could be a potential candidate.

The use of glow-in-the-dark elements in the set is a nod to the many varied forms of fauna and flora glimpsed on Pandora that have some form of natural bioluminescence. It’s also a subtle way of making the set stand out as something slightly special, in addition to the brick-built Toruk Makto and longer-limbs of the four included Na’vi minifigures.

75774 Toruk Makto & Tree of Souls is due for release on October 1 for £129.99 / $149.99 / €149.99. Avatar: The Way of Water will be released in cinemas on December 16, 2022.
