LEGO archives another BrickLink Designer Program project

The LEGO Group has withdrawn one of the remaining rejected LEGO Ideas 10K projects in the BrickLink Designer Program.

Stephan Niks’ Anatomini was originally on the table for either the second or third round of crowdfunding in the program, which has given a second chance to LEGO Ideas projects that gathered enough community support to reach the review stage – but weren’t chosen by the LEGO Group for official sets.

However, as of today, the LEGO Group and BrickLink have chosen to archive Stephan’s design. An official statement on the program’s landing page reads: “Due to the complexity of revising the model, we are sorry to have to withdraw the project. We hope we can work with the designer again in future!”

That wording sets out a clear distinction between the fan designer choosing to withdraw their model, as happened in May with Brickfornia’s Temple of Hermit – the accompanying statement for that set reads ‘the designer decided to withdraw the project’ – and the LEGO Group deciding to shelve it.

It seems likely, therefore, that the LEGO Group’s designers weren’t satisfied with the structural integrity of Stephan’s design during the test building phase. We’ve reached out to the fan designer for more information.

The start date for the second round of crowdfunding in the BrickLink Designer Program still hasn’t been confirmed, but a briefly-uploaded landing page suggested it could begin on November 1. You can check out all nine models in the next round over at BrickLink.
