Is LEGO about to fix its bizarre Adidas GWP qualifying spend?

The LEGO Group may be preparing to adjust the bizarre qualifying spend for its latest gift-with-purchase, 40486 Adidas Originals Superstar.

At the moment, picking up the newly-launched 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar alone isn’t enough to qualify for its accompanying GWP in any market. In the US and Europe, you’ll need to add an extra $5.01 or €5.01 or products to your bag, while UK shoppers will need to top up their order by £15.01.

It seems the LEGO Group may be about to acknowledge that puzzling decision, however, as the company’s latest German newsletter claims 40486 Adidas Originals Superstar actually has a qualifying threshold of €85 – €10 less than the current required spend at LEGO.com (h/t Promobricks).

At the time of writing, the German storefront hasn’t been updated to reflect that new value, so it’s still possible that it’s simply an error in the newsletter. And even if the European threshold does come down, we don’t know whether the same will happen for UK and US fans.

We’ve reached out to the LEGO Group for clarification, so keep an eye onBrick Fanaticsfor confirmation either way. In the meantime, check out our review of 40486 Adidas Originals Superstar and its bigger brother, 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then. You can follow me on Twitter at @brfa_chris.
