An enormous LEGO Marvel Daily Bugle set may be on the way as soon as May 2021, with a very familiar villain in tow.
Instagram user exabrickslegogo_ claims the direct-to-consumer set will be based on Marvel’s Spider-Man comics (rather than its movies, including the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home), and will launch with a price tag of $299.
That would make it the second-most expensive LEGO Marvel set to date, right behind 2015’s 76042 The SHIELD Helicarrier, which weighed in at 2,996 pieces, and far above the current second-placed set, 2018’s 76105 The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition, which includes 1,363 elements.
There’s no piece count for the rumoured Daily Bugle, but you can likely expect it to fall somewhere between those two figures – and a lot higher than the LEGO Group’s only other rendition of the fictional newspaper office, 2013’s 76005 Spider-Man: Daily Bugle Showdown.
That early Marvel set poured just 476 bricks into its design, and a good chunk of those went into Dr. Doom’s jet. But it was also six times cheaper than the rumoured new set, so we’re expecting big things from what will be LEGO Marvel’s largest location model to date.
According to exabrickslegogo_, at least one of those things will be yet another Venom minifigure, because we definitely haven’t had enough of those lately. We’ll hopefully see a few lesser-spotted characters in the mix if the set does indeed launch in May as rumoured, but we’ll keep you in the loop either way.
