Brand new mystery LEGO theme rumoured for 2022

A brand new LEGO theme is reportedly coming our way in October 2022, currently codenamed ‘Coconut’.

Instagram user 1414falconfan reports that online retailer electricBricks has listed four products under the working title ‘Coconut’, numbered 75571, 75572, 75573 and 75574. And that’s basically all we have to go on at the minute, because absolutely nothing else is known about these sets.

They don’t fit into any other current LEGO product number sequence, but Minions comes closest with 75550 Minions Kung Fu Battle and 75551 Brick-built Minions and their Lair. That suggests this new theme could well be another short-run licensed line-up, perhaps tying into James Cameron’s long-awaited Avatar sequel, which is due to arrive in cinemas in December 2022.

That’s just one idea, although another currently floating around the web is that it may herald the return of LEGO Indiana Jones. That seems a less likely prospect, however, given the long-delayed fifth instalment in the franchise has been pushed back yet again to 2023 – any accompanying sets would surely arrive around the same time.

There’s not really much we can read into the placeholder name, either: LEGO Super Mario was originally codenamed ‘Leaf’, so the word in itself probably doesn’t hold much relevance to the content of the theme. It’s also worth remembering that this still isn’t confirmed at the moment – particularly given the product listings now appear to have been removed.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then. You can follow me on Twitter at @brfa_chris.
