Head into space with brand new LEGO Monkie Kid 2022 sets out today

MK is blasting off into space with 80035 Monkie Kid’s Galactic Explorer, one of seven brand new LEGO Monkie Kid 2022 sets available from today.

Comprising a huge red, gold and yellow rocket with an accompanying launch tower, the 1,356-piece set takes the Journey to the West-inspired theme in a bold new direction, co-opting a classic LEGO staple in much the same way 80036 The City of Lanterns skewers the aesthetic of NINJAGO’s modular buildings.

Both of those new sets also represent great value for a theme that’s traditionally been prohibitively expensive, topping out at £89.99 / $129.99 / €99.99 and £114.99 / $149.99 / €119.99 respectively. That said, the cheapest set in the wave – 80030 Monkie Kid’s Staff Creations – still starts at £24.99 / $34.99 / €29.99, so we’re not quite at traditional entry-level pricing just yet.

Making up the middle ground are some impressively colourful – and wonderfully unique – sets, including 80032 Chang’e Moon Cake Factory, 80033 Evil Macaque’s Mech and 80034 Nezha’s Fire Ring. Essentially, there’s a lot to dive into for Monkie Kid fans in the theme’s third year on shelves, so don’t hang about here: head over to LEGO.com and dive in.

The official online store (and selected brand retail stores) are basically your only option for picking up the new Monkie Kid sets in the west, where they’re unlikely to be available through third-party retailers. The one exception is in the US and Canada, where at least a couple of current sets are up on Amazon, so these new launches could theoretically follow in due course.
